New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers had high praise for second-year running back Breece Hall

The New York Jets haven’t had a running back the caliber of Breece Hall since Curtis Martin signed with the team in 1998. The 22-year-old showed Hall of Fame potential in his rookie year, putting up 681 scrimmage yards and five touchdowns on just 99 total touches.

Aaron Rodgers is seeing that potential firsthand. When asked about his impression of Hall so far in training camp and what he could bring to the offense, Rodgers heaped praise upon the Jets running back.

“I said that the difference between Carolina and Tampa was 17 [Garrett Wilson] being on the field. I feel like the difference we have seen when Breece is on the field is also substantial,” Rodgers said.

The 39-year-old quarterback compared Hall to a Packers legend.

“He’s just a different speed … he hit 21 miles per hour and it just looked like he was cruising. We had a guy in Green Bay who had a similar running style .. he was super efficient, Ahman Green. When he was running, nobody ever really caught him and it didn’t look like he was going that fast. When you’re watching Breece, it might not look like he’s going that fast but nobody catches him.”

Green is the all-time leading rusher in Packers history with 8,322 yards.

Rodgers also threw in some jokes when commenting on the young running back, too.

“He [Breece] has elite speed. And he also has a big ole’ hind end,” Rodgers commented with a smile. “He’s put together pretty well for a running back.”

The future Hall of Fame quarterback has also been testing his 22-year-old backfield mate. So far, Hall is passing with flying colors.

“I love having him out there, he’s a smart guy,” said Rodgers. “I’ve been testing him because he’s been out most of training camp. The first time he was in there I was messing with him because he’s always giving me, you know, guff, and ripping me about everything from my looks to my age to whatever. So I said, ‘alright, I’m going to test this young cat’. He was real sharp on all the adjustments and checkdowns and everything. I give him credit for that, he seems to be a pro.”

Hall is back. Becton is looking comfortable and cook opens up the 21 personel package with misdirection and will have the LB,s attention. Now all the Jets need is a True #2 WR who can block and to sign Jason Peters as depth at Tackle and the Jets will be looking pretty good heading into week 1.
