Deebo Samuel calls NY Jets star his favorite non-teammate in NFL

Appearing on the “Up & Adams Show”, Deebo Samuel had high praise for the New York Jets’ up-and-coming star

The praise for New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson is rapidly mounting. Coming off winning the Offensive Rookie of the Year award last season, the Ohio State product is being recognized as a player that could leap to a superstar level in 2023 with Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback.

Receiving hype from the media is one thing, but it’s another to be praised by your peers. Wilson, who was ranked No. 74 in the 2023 NFL Top 100 (voted on by players) despite only being in his second year, continues to be praised by other wideouts in the league.

That continued this week. On the “Up & Adams Show”, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel called Wilson his favorite NFL player who is not a teammate.

Samuel revealed he met Wilson a year and a half ago through his marketing team and praised his character.

“He’s a real cool dude, cool to be around, and I just love the way he plays the game,” Samuel said.

Samuel choosing Wilson as his favorite non-teammate is a fun twist, as the two players were nearly linked in 2022.

While looking to upgrade their wide receiver room, the Jets talked to San Francisco about trading for Samuel. If he were traded to the Jets, the 10th pick – later used to select Wilson – would have been sent back to the 49ers in the trade.

Considering the link they could have shared, it is cool to see Samuel being a big fan of Wilson’s game and character. His comments serve as further evidence that the excitement around Wilson is not just coming from his own team and the media, but other players in the NFL as well.
