Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Commanders
After losing to the New York Jets in Week 6, the Philadelphia Eagles got back on the right track by dominating the Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders lost to the New York Giants as their offense could not get anything going.
I anticipate more of the same for the Commanders this week. Through seven weeks, the Eagles have 24 sacks. That is the third-most in the NFL only behind the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens. The Commanders have given up the most sacks out of any team in the NFL this year with 40. I think the Eagles will be wreaking havoc all game behind their dominant front seven.
With the Eagles effortlessly getting back to their brand of football last week, I anticipate them running the football early and often in this one, as the Commanders are 23rd in rushing yards per game allowed (125.7). Philadelphia only had about 100 rushing yards last week, but controlled the clock and kept Miami off the field. The Eagles are built to win in the trenches and I think that will continue this week.
Considering the Eagles’ expected dominance over Washington’s offensive line along with Philadelphia’s clock-controlling offense, look for this game to stay under 43.5 points.
The play: Under 43.5
Jacksonville Jaguars @ Pittsburgh Steelers
The next play of the weekend brings us to Acrisure Stadium where the Pittsburgh Steelers host the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Steelers, who are quietly 4-2, are looking to keep pace with the division-leading Baltimore Ravens.
This falls as another Mike Tomlin home underdog spot. As the Steelers’ head coach, Tomlin is 18-5-3 against the spread as a home underdog. To me, this is a blind tail game when he is a home underdog, just as we did in Week 5 when they upset the Baltimore Ravens.
When looking at statistics, the Steelers do not do anything very well. Their defense ranks 28th in rushing yards, 25th in passing yards, and 30th in points per game. Their offense is not much better as they come in at 32nd in first downs, 25th in passing yards, and 28th in rushing yards.
Regardless, they continue to just find ways to win. I like them to continue that trend on Sunday and win a close one against the Jaguars.
The play: Pittsburgh Steelers +2
