In a video captured by ESPN, the New York Jets’ quarterback alludes to a possible imminent return to the playing field for the Jets
A quick video captured after the New York Jets’ loss to the Chargers could bring some hope to fans after a disheartening night.
Speaking to Chargers safety Derwin James, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers seemingly responded with “Give me a few weeks” when asked about his return to the field.
Derwin James: "When you coming back?"
Aaron Rodgers: "Give me a few weeks."

The word “few” is doing most of the heavy lifting here, as the number of weeks correlated with Rodgers’s comments could still be considerable.
Regardless of the quarterback’s true intentions with the statement, it is interesting to wonder about what Rodgers’s timeline could be. He is already doing dropbacks and throwing the ball deep down the field, meaning other quarterback-related drills should not be too far away.

There is one key factor that could disrupt the prospect of a Rodgers return this season, though: the performance of the team. After a three-game winning streak, the Jets came crashing back down to earth Monday night.
While their defense is playing at an elite level, the team’s offense is stuck in the mud and is only sinking lower. They could not muster anything against a Chargers defense that entered the game ranked 32nd in passing yards per game allowed, only scoring six points and zero touchdowns.
To keep the Rodgers dream alive, the Jets must find a way to stay afloat in the AFC playoff picture. Being in playoff contention means playing complementary football, and the Jets have repeatedly failed to do so for large stretches of the 2023 season.
Aaron Rodgers’s return from his Achilles injury this season has always been a far-fetched yet possible goal for the team to strive toward. The only way for that scenario to unfold, though, is for the Jets to be in a position where Rodgers can elevate them in a playoff hunt.
The star quarterback may have his eyes set on returning in a few weeks, but if the Jets cannot figure out how to overcome their offensive struggles to win games, the earliest Jets fans will see Rodgers don the green and white is in Week 1 of the 2024 season.
