The New York Jets’ performance against the Los Angeles Chargers was truly shameful

After the New York Jets scraped an ugly win out of the hands of the crosstown rival New York Giants, they hoped that they would bounce back on Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Chargers.

A bounce-back after a win is not something you typically see or read. But the Jets consistently find ways to disappoint, even when they win.

The Jets’ offense was at a new level of laughable against the Giants. They needed a strong offensive output against a lackluster Chargers defense, not just for the sake of a bounce back, but for the sake of the state of their offense and outlook for the remainder of the season.

Well, the Jets did anything but bounce back. They mustered up only six points. That’s nearly impossible to do in today’s NFL which places offensive players on a pedestal.

The new offensive line didn’t work, as they allowed eight sacks, surrendered constant pressure, and couldn’t find their footing in the ground game. They allowed Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack to get back on track after so-so starts.

Under center, Zach Wilson continued his regression from the high of the Kansas City Chiefs game. He fumbled three times (losing two), completely lacked pocket presence, and missed easy passes, among many other flaws.

The wide receivers were highly disappointing from the top down, from drops and penalties to a complete inability to create any separation.

Many people were at fault for the Jets’ embarrassing 27-6 primetime loss in a truly ugly offensive game. In this episode, we go through the ugly details of the defeat.

  • Who’s to blame for the lack of offensive production?
  • How did the defense perform?
  • Where do the Jets go from here?

All of this and much more is discussed in this week’s edition of Blewett’s Blitz.
