It is no surprise that the NFL would see the Jets as a team to put on multiple primetime games. The return of Aaron Rodgers is a major storyline in itself.
Add in the pressure of a coach being on the hot seat and the looming presence of the longest playoff drought in North American sports, and you have countless storylines that can create excitement around the team’s games.
Looking at the team’s 2024 opponents, a few key games stick out as potential primetime opportunities.
The Jets have to face an NFC North opponent next year, but the team is determined based on where they finish in the division. As a result, there is a possibility that the Jets could be heading into Lambeau Field to take on the Packers in 2024. The game would be Rodgers’s first against his old team, all but guaranteeing a primetime slot.
Other primetime possibilities include the Texans, 49ers, and Rams. For Black Friday, Amazon could opt to utilize a division rival, like the Bills, or one of the other marquee opponents on the team’s schedule.
After avoiding the spotlight of primetime games for many years, it seems the Jets will be firmly positioned in it again in 2024.
As a result, it is imperative that the Jets drastically improve their roster. Whether the team is a great success or a massive failure, the primetime games will illuminate where New York stands next year.
