Despite no large-scale changes, the New York Jets are still looking to tweak their coaching staff.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini stated that Saleh is “quietly” looking to add other position coaches to the staff. He mentioned former Texans quarterback T.J. Yates, who is currently the wide receivers coach for the Falcons, along with the Titans’ tight ends coach, Tony Dews.

With the departure of running backs coach Taylor Embree, the team had former Panthers coach Duce Staley to their facility for a visit, according to Josina Anderson. Staley would fill the void that Embree leaves, but according to The Athletic’s Zach Rosenblatt, the Browns appear to be the team that will be hiring Staley.

Additionally, Anderson mentioned that the Jets are still considering adding to their staff, especially on the offensive side of the ball.

While not the significant change that a new offensive coordinator or offensive line coach would be, it is slightly encouraging to see that the Jets may realize they cannot run everything back.

Adding a new running backs coach could potentially help the development of Isreal Abanikanda, while getting a new wide receiver coach could help get more out of a unit that was among the league’s worst in 2023.

Change for the sake of change is not always positive, but in the case of the Jets, changes are necessary after a historically poor season on offense.

If the Jets do not opt to make large-scale changes to their offense, the next best option is to at least add some new voices into the room.
