New York Jets are exploring developmental QB options in the draft
After being held back by poor quarterback play for over a decade, the position is now a strength for the New York Jets, at least in the short term. They have their starting quarterback in future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, and they learned from their mistake last season by signing Tyrod Taylor to back him up.
The Jets are in a good spot as things currently stand. However, general manager Joe Douglas may not be done adding to the position.
Logan Robinson of Nole Gameday reported today that the Jets will meet with quarterback Jordan Travis from Florida State in the coming weeks.
Jordan Travis has a visit scheduled with the New York Jets in a few weeks. The Raiders have also been in good contact. #Noles

Travis was one of the best quarterbacks in college football before fracturing his leg in November. While the Jets are unlikely to draft a quarterback with an early draft pick, Travis is currently projected as a Day 3 pick.
Considering both Rodgers and Taylor will be over 35 years old to start the season, the Jets need a plan for 2025 and beyond. Travis offers an excellent opportunity to use a non-premium pick on a high-upside player. The Jets could allow him to recover fully and develop behind a Hall of Fame quarterback.
Jets fans aren’t the only people excited by the potential addition. Jets defensive end Jermaine Johnson is a fan of the move as well.

Johnson played with Travis at Florida State in 2021 before being drafted in the first round by the Jets. That college connection could benefit the Jets as they make their choice.
Good teams plug holes before they open and don’t rely on rookies to start. The Jets can do that in 2024 and set themselves up for success for years to come. It’s just up to Joe Douglas to find the right prospects.
