The New York Jets have given themselves many draft options
For the New York Jets, the 2024 offseason has come up almost all checks so far.
Two new tackles? Insert Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith. No. 2 receiver to complement Garrett Wilson as a deep threat with contested catch ability? Mike Williams, check. New starting guard? Check. Jordan Whitehead upgrade? Check. Bring back stud special teams core? Check. Joe Douglas deserves a ton of credit for his wheeling and dealing.
That suddenly makes the draft a lot more interesting. There’s a whole month available for Jets fans to argue about what the team should do in the first round.
In today’s episode of The Score Boord Podcast, we discuss just that: what should the Jets’ focus in the draft be? Should they trade up for Marvin Harrison Jr., as Daniel Jeremiah proposed in his most recent mock draft? Should a different receiver be on their radar? How about offensive tackle? Trade up or trade down? Are Troy Fautanu and Brock Bowers intriguing options? Why is no one talking about J.C. Latham?
We also go through the Jets’ remaining needs and the top options available at those positions. Don’t expect the typical names at backup running back, edge rusher, or even big-nickel safety. We also discuss the top swing tackle options available; there are surprisingly many decent players still unsigned.

I’ve been advocating trading back for more picks for months. But recently I’ve come around to trading up. Arizona is openly shopping #4. Our next year’s 2nd round pick might get it done. We could throw in a 6th this year if necessary. Then I would take Malik Nabors. With him, GW and MW we’d have one of the top trios in the league. Rodgers will have a field day. That’s a “going for it” move.
If Williams leaves after one year we know we’ve got two studs, Finding a 3 won’t be that hard.
I see the big 3 receivers (Harrison, Nabers, Odunze) being gone by the eighth pick.
It’s not sexy, but I think the right thing for us to do is grab either Fuaga or Fautanu, assuming Alt is also gone. If we can do it while trading back and picking up a two or addl three, so much the better. Our new OT’s are both 33 yrs old, regardless of how many yrs Aaron plays, we need to get younger.
Coolll, just followed yer pod on spotify, looking forward to it. I know this cant possibly be an original thought, and Jeremiah is one of the only national guys i like, but why would he think the chargers would trade out of getting mhj?? They just lost keenan allen and williams and have their franchise qb needing a new wr1. Makes no sense. I would think they would be the betting favorite to land mhj or nabers. I get trading down for assets to kinda remake parts of the roster but i would be stunned if they traded back with mhj or nabers available.
