The New York Jets currently have only one pick on the second day of the 2024 NFL draft

The second day of the NFL draft has arrived, and it will likely be even more chaotic than the first. The number of impact players left on the board will decline rapidly as the night goes on, leaving teams scrambling to move up and get their guy.

So what do New York Jets fans need to know entering tonight?

Draft Day 2 start time

The second day of the NFL draft starts at 7 p.m. EST. Tonight will consist of the second and third rounds, which are picks 33-100. Rounds four through seven will be held on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m. PM EST.

We will see 68 players selected later today. When will the Jets be on the clock?

Jets’ remaining 2024 draft picks

Last night, the Jets moved back one spot and added additional fourth- and fifth-round picks while trading away a sixth-round pick, leaving them with seven remaining picks. They are as follows:

  • 72nd (3rd)
  • 111th (4th)
  • 129th (4th)
  • 134th (4th)
  • 157th (5th)
  • 185th (6th)
  • 257th (7th)

With no second-round picks and one third-round pick, the Jets are currently scheduled to make only one selection tonight, coming at No. 72 overall in the third round.

There will likely be additional trades, but the Jets currently have seven opportunities to improve the team. Anything can happen, including a trade-up for another Day 2 pick or trading a late-round pick for a veteran like they did to acquire Morgan Moses.

So what are the Jets’ remaining needs?

Jets’ remaining needs to address

After drafting an offensive tackle last night, the Jets’ next biggest need is wide receiver. Mike Williams is returning from injury and the rest of the unit is unreliable beyond Garrett Wilson. Thankfully, it’s a deep wide receiver class.

After that, the Jets others needs include:

  • Safety
  • Defensive tackle
  • Backup running back
  • Developmental quarterback

Now it’s up to Joe Douglas to decide how to address those needs.
