The NFL will likely release the New York Jets’ schedule shortly
The New York Jets know who their opponents will be in 2024 and whether they’re home or road games. The question is when those games will be, and possibly where.
The NFL is expected to release the full 2024 season schedule on Thursday, May 9, although they’ve been cagey about even announcing the date of the announcement.

Based on the BetMGM betting markets, the Jets have the third-easiest schedule in the NFL. Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis puts them at the fourth-easiest. Still, the ordering of the games, when the bye week is, and if the Jets play any overseas games can have a big impact on the overall difficulty of the schedule.
The Jets are rumored to be playing on Black Friday once again in 2024. They debuted that date in 2023 against the Miami Dolphins, losing 34-13. They reportedly requested to permanently play on Black Friday, although it doesn’t seem that the NFL agreed.
Furthermore, there are rumors that the Jets will play in London in 2024. Jets owner Woody Johnson was previously the United States ambassador to the United Kingdom, so there is some connection there. If that’s the case, when the game occurs could greatly affect the Jets. Overseas games generally come with an automatic bye week the following week, but when that bye is could affect players’ recovery time and availability later in the season.
Then there is the question of primetime games. The Jets were scheduled in primetime the maximum six times in 2023. The nation watched many unbearable games once Aaron Rodgers went down. It will be interesting to see whether the league gives the Jets as much national airtime in 2024.
In terms of who the Jets will play in Week 1, there have been unsubstantiated rumors that they will begin in Tennessee or San Francisco. There is a world of difference in the difficulty of those games. Despite the Titans’ improved roster, such a game would be a softball landing compared to facing the defending NFC champions on the road.
