Malachi Corley brings more to the New York Jets than the mainstream media is telling you
“YAC King,” “YAC Guy,” “Gadget Guy,” – these are just a few of the labels commonly plastered upon New York Jets rookie Malachi Corley.
It’s easy to come to those conclusions with a quick skimming of Corley’s highlights on YouTube. But when you really dig into his film, it’s clear that the Western Kentucky product is capable of becoming a much more well-rounded weapon than the mainstream media is labeling him as.
Chosen 65th overall with the first pick of the third round, the 22-year-old wide receiver is certainly a bowling ball in the open field, standing at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds with an intense physical mindset to boot. His playmaking in the YAC department will surely be a big part of his game at the next level. However, the All-22 film shows skills that are rarely mentioned when Corley’s name comes up, such as his contested-catch potential, underrated verticality, and willingness as a blocker among many other traits.
In the newest Blewett’s Blitz film review, we break down 70 plays from Corley’s 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, showcasing his overlooked strengths in addition to some of the weaknesses that may have caused him to be the 12th wide receiver off the board. Plus, a full list of his strengths and weaknesses can be found at the bottom of the page.
