It’s safe to say Colin Cowherd is not high on Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets
On his show “The Herd,” Colin Cowherd said he would take the under on the New York Jets’ win total in 2024, which currently sits at 9.5. However, Cowherd made quite a few misguided comments when explaining why he is taking the under.
“Their offensive line is either rookies or old guys. How many offensive linemen do they have in their prime that are excellent? One, and he’s always hurt, Alijah Vera-Tucker. They’re very dependent on one excellent running back. Saleh is a defensive coach. Aaron is a pretty prickly old quarterback with maybe one year left. I think he’s absolutely past his prime,” said Cowherd.
Colin Cowherd rips the #Jets and says there is no shot they win over 9 games and take the under at 9.5 😳

While anyone has the right to take the under on the Jets, Cowherd’s argument is littered with holes.
At a different point during his show, Cowherd mentioned the loss of Tyron Smith for the Cowboys as a significant reason why they will not eclipse their 10.5-win total line. Interestingly, Cowherd did not mention Smith during the discussion of the Jets for the 2024 season and was not named as an “elite” offensive lineman.
Colin Cowherd’s 2 most hated QB’s in the NFL are Dak Prescott & Aaron Rodgers. He showcases his hatred for both IN THE SAME SEGMENT.

Cowherd’s comments about the Jets are not crazy at first sight. There are injury questions surrounding the Jets’ offensive line, and Robert Saleh does not have a great history as a head coach. Additionally, it is debatable whether Aaron Rodgers will be the same player after his Achilles injury.
However, those with a deeper knowledge of the Jets and an understanding of Cowherd’s past will see that his analysis is surface-level at best.
Cowherd claimed the Jets’ offensive line is only “rookies or old guys,” yet, Olu Fashanu is the only rookie on the unit and is not a projected starter. Additionally, their entire starting trio on the interior is made up of players aged 26 and under. And while starting tackles Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses might qualify as “old guys” at age 33, both players ranked highly at their positions last year.
While Breece Hall is a gigantic part of the Jets’ offense, Cowherd conveniently does not mention receivers Garrett Wilson or Mike Williams. He also decides not to mention the team’s sturdy defense that helped them win seven games in back-to-back seasons where they had the worst quarterback play in the league.
As for the Rodgers comments, Cowherd has a history of disliking Rodgers, as the host has constantly bashed him over the years. He even floated the idea that the NFL gave the Jets the 49ers in Week 1 to try to bury Rodgers and his team for being too controversial and bad for business.

In recent weeks, Cowherd has ripped the quarterback for wanting to join the Jets, called the quarterback’s return attempt in 2023 a “PR grift,” and said that Rodgers “will soon be irrelevant.”
By no means is criticizing Rodgers wrong; the quarterback is a highly controversial figure off the field and has brought attention to himself by staying in the limelight.
However, Cowherd’s choice of topics and words toward Rodgers and the Jets indicate someone who has already made up their mind on the topic. He has removed objectivity from his discussion of the Jets by leaving out key information about the team.
There is a long way to go until the start of the 2024 NFL season, and many things can change in that time frame. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Cowherd sticks to his predictions or flips around his words again based on popular opinion.
