Giving New York Jets fans a closer look at their FCS running back

In the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, the New York Jets selected Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen, their first move of the offseason to address a lack of depth at running back. Allen is a well-known name among college football fans, as he racked up 3,769 yards and 35 touchdowns from scrimmage in the Big Ten over the past three years. His status as a dominant player from a Power-5 school made him an exciting and recognizable pick, while also making him an easy player for Jets fans to find footage of and learn more about.

However, one round later, the Jets selected a much more mysterious and unheralded running back in Isaiah Davis, who played his college football at FCS powerhouse South Dakota State.

Being selected one round later and coming from a weaker tier of college football, it’s been presumed that Davis will trail Allen on the Jets’ depth chart. But should we really make that assumption?

Coming from an FCS school, Davis is a tougher player to find film on and truly analyze. You can find a handful of highlight reels out there, but full South Dakota State games are difficult to locate, which means there are barely any full Davis breakdowns available. This has left Jets fans to rely on his highlights to learn about him, and as we know, highlight reels barely scratch the surface of telling a player’s story.

That’s why we’re here today. Who is Isaiah Davis? What does he bring to the Jets’ offense?

In the newest Blewett’s Blitz film review, we break down 34 plays of All-22 film from Davis’ career at South Dakota State. The review showcases a complete synopsis of both the positives and the negatives in his game, painting a picture of where he fits in the Jets’ offense. Plus, a full list of his strengths and weaknesses can be found at the bottom of the page.
