In a post on X, the edge rusher fired off a cryptic tweet regarding his situation with the New York Jets

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), New York Jets edge rusher Haason Reddick commented about the narratives surrounding his absence from the team.

“Stop believing the foolery y’all see on these social media apps and news outlets. Running crazy narratives and y’all eating it up,” said Reddick.

Reddick’s comments only reinforce a key aspect many are missing about his absence: It is only June.

Plenty of players have missed offseason programs, whether it is OTAs or mandatory minicamps. Quinnen Williams was the most recent example for the Jets, and players such as CeeDee Lamb are doing the same on other teams across the league.

But once again, the Jets’ reputation as a franchise has played a role in the narratives spinning out of control. Historically, the Jets have been dysfunctional. They have handled many things in the wrong fashion. As a result, it causes people to see the worst-case scenario as likely.

With Reddick’s situation, however, there is still plenty of time for the Jets to talk to their newest edge rusher and find a solution. More importantly, Reddick must be on the field in 2024, as his on-field production will help him get the new deal he desires.

Is it ideal that Reddick has not shown up? No, not at all. However, the narratives of the absence’s effect on the Jets’ 2024 season are overblown, especially considering the time remaining until the start of training camp and the regular season.
