Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie threw jabs at each other over previous comments
2024 has been the Year of the Beef, and yesteryear’s premier New York Jets cornerback duo is keeping the trend going.
The drama started when former cornerback Antonio Cromartie appeared on “The Jake Asman Show” and complimented fellow former Jet Darrelle Revis.
New #Jets coach @Cro31 revealed what made @Revis24 a Hall of Fame player!

“He understood, just by watching the film, what kind of release they were trying to go to. So he was able to get hands-on. He could play off-coverage; he could play any coverage you needed him to play because he was just that good. And that’s why he’s in the Hall of Fame.”
However, Cromartie expressed some different sentiments in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter).
Cromartie’s tweet prompted a response from Revis, who fired back at the cornerback’s criticism of him.

The duo had one last back-and-forth on the platform, as Cromartie said that he never “faked a hamstring injury” or “ran from responsibility” as a player. Revis then said his hamstring injury was “real,” prompting Cromartie to end the dialogue by telling his contemporary to “be blessed” and “carry on.”
@Revis24 never faked a Hamstring injury. Played through it no matter what happen. And always took responsibility about my play. Never ran from it or pointed fingers my guy. IJS pic.twitter.com/rGKAoYLRpw

Unlike the Kendrick Lamar-Drake beef that had a definitive reason for existing (and a definitive winner), this one is a bit more questionable.
Cromartie was complementing Revis and still ended up arguing with the future Hall-of-Famer. However, his comment about Revis only having three years of great play is false.
Revis continued a history of starting arguments with former Jets, as he got into a spat with Jets legend Joe Klecko in the past year. And while he was well within his rights to defend his play, it was strange for it to play out in this manner.
Ultimately, it is an argument between two great players that did not need to occur. Revis and Cromartie played vital roles in their careers for the Jets and other teams. More importantly, though, nobody wins when the family feuds.
