The New York Jets’ star cornerback is hosting a “Call of Duty” tournament consisting of players and content creators

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner is looking to continue increasing his prominence in a field outside of football. The two-time All-Pro announced that he will host a “Call of Duty” tournament.

Taking place on July 17, the tournament will have a $41,000 prize pool and feature a variety of NFL players and content creators. Gardner spoke about the tournament’s specifics in an additional post.

“It’ll be 1 NFL player, 1 COD pro, and 2 content creators. The NFL players will pick their teams based on that format. I know that people want to watch their favorite pros/content creators participate, so I’ll check the comments & my DMs and pick a lot of the people who participate.”

In a later post, the Jets’ cornerback jokingly called out NFL players who had not signed up and encouraged them to get involved.

All these NFL players say they are nice at COD, but when I host a tourney to highlight the captains participating, it gets quiet😂 This tourney can easily be 100 players per match, but it won’t be fair if every [team] doesn’t have an NFL captain,” said Gardner.

Already an elite cornerback, Gardner wants to make his mark on the video game scene, too. He has a large fanbase on Twitch, where he streams games frequently.

The two-time All-Pro has proven his mettle time and time again on the gridiron. Now, he will have a chance to do the same with the joysticks and computer monitor in front of him.
