“He’s a rare talent. Garrett and I, our competitiveness is something we share. He’s very intense; I’m very intense as well. I’m very fortunate to coach a guy who basically has the same mindset that I do. I’m a go-getter, and he is a go-getter.”
Jefferson also told a story about a request Wilson had for him before Thursday’s joint practice against the Commanders.
“We are getting ready to go scrimmage Washington out there. He comes to me on Monday and is like, ‘Turn me loose on Thursday. Turn me loose.’ I said, ‘You f-ing got it, let’s go!’ I just absolutely love it. Every day, he is just ready to go; it’s a joy.”
Garrett Wilson asked Jets WR coach Shawn Jefferson to "turn him loose" during joint practice with the Commanders. Jefferson obliged.

The coach added that Wilson is an “animated” person and that his personality and attitude make him a “coach’s dream” as a player.
It is evident that Wilson is ready to break out in every facet possible in 2024. On the field, the Ohio State product has been an absolute force. Whether it is his teammates or the Washington Commanders, no one has truly been able to consistently shut him down. Wilson has won vertically, in the intermediate game, and everywhere else in between.
Wilson has seemingly combined his talent with an unmatched mentality and desire to get better. He is pushing Jefferson and quarterback Aaron Rodgers to be their best while also asking for them to push him in the same way. It has created a competitive environment that is making everyone better.
Everything is on the table for Wilson to dominate in 2024. Barring any injuries, it seems that a breakout is likely for him in 2024.
