Aaron Rodgers is a big fan of his backup quarterback.
During his media availability on Tuesday, the future Hall of Famer spoke about having Tyrod Taylor back him up and what it is like to have a veteran in that position.

“It’s way different. I love it. It’s been a blast. Tyrod is a fantastic human being. I’ve always been a fan of his, and over the years, I’ve enjoyed talking with him when he’s on other teams. I think he’s had some unfortunate luck in some situations. It’s happened a few different times that when he’s gotten opportunities, he got hurt. But he’s so fun to be around. He’s a fantastic human being,” said Rodgers.
“He’s got a lot of interest, fashion being maybe number one, which we love to tease him about but also hear more about…In all seriousness, he wakes up, and he’s got drip, I think they call it. He’s got a lot of a lot of swag. Garrett (Wilson) went to me on Saturday and said, ‘Why can’t you look like that on game day?’ Because Tyrod had the sleeves, he was swagged out with the J’s (Jordans), and I said I couldn’t do it. That’s just not me, but I love working with Tyrod. He’s got a lot of great stories, a lot of mutual friends, a lot of shared experiences over the years. It’s been a lot of fun having a backup who’s in his mid-30s.”
Rodgers also added that Taylor can “see things through a different lens,” which truly helps him improve as a player on the field.
It is a big positive that Rodgers feels so comfortable having Taylor in the room with him. Having another veteran voice makes the future Hall-of-Famer less of a teacher for the room and more of a collaborator in a season when the Jets are expected to compete.
However, Taylor also helps in the mentoring category. By having Rodgers and Taylor there, the younger quarterbacks can gain valuable lessons and tips from both veteran quarterbacks.
A veteran, and maybe even Taylor himself, should have been present last season to ensure that the season did not crumple in the event of a Rodgers injury. The team learned from their mistake, though, and the addition of Taylor is paying off.
