Adams went into detail on why he enjoys joint practices.
“I love joint practices. I can’t wait to get it cracking. Like, I love it. I love the energy; I love the intensity. I love going against somebody else. Usually, you’re going against your team every day. It gets kind of boring and old, hitting each other all day. But when you’re going against another team, it’s special. It just brings a different intensity out of you.”
Adams also spoke about his improvement on defense this year, focusing on his play speed specifically.
“I think I’m playing a lot faster. I think the game has slowed down for me. Compared to a year ago, I’m a lot more confident. So you’re going to see a lot more plays from me this year, for sure.”
Head coach Robert Saleh also spoke about Adams during his media availability and praised him for several reasons.
“He’s an elite communicator and has elite energy. And you know, he’s everything that we want out of a Jet. He’s just got that DNA in him. And, you know, I look forward to watching him progress as a player and professional.”
The Jets’ safety position is often overlooked in discussions about the team’s defense. New York has a solid veteran in Chuck Clark and some nice producers in Adams and Ashtyn Davis.
If Adams takes the next step in his development as Saleh expects, the defense could have another star player to add to an already talented group.
