Despite his current holdout from the New York Jets, Haason Reddick is still making an impact on the local community.
The star edge rusher attended a charity event in Jersey City, New Jersey on Tuesday night. Reddick handed out backpacks and school supplies to local kids.

Reddick reportedly drove up from Camden for the evening event. In addition to the charity work, Reddick signed a Jets helmet. However, he declined an interview request from reporters at the event through his manager.

One of Reddick’s comments raised some eyebrows, as he said, “I want to be here. I want to be around.” Jersey City is a half-hour drive from the Jets’ practice facility in Florham Park and their home turf, MetLife Stadium, in East Rutherford.
It is encouraging to see that even without a new contract, Reddick is still helping out the local community. Athletes helping those in need is always commendable, no matter outstanding contract circumstances.
When it comes to Reddick’s situation with the Jets, though, nothing is seemingly moving just yet. Both sides are entrenched in their stances and are likely not shifting anytime soon. It looks as if only one side caving to the other’s demands will ultimately resolve the situation.
As of now, the Jets have to prepare for life without Reddick and vice versa. New York will not have its closer of a pass rusher, while Reddick cannot prove that he is still an upper-tier player against the 49ers.
There is a chance that both sides’ stubbornness costs the Jets the Week 1 game; there is also a chance that it does not make a difference.
Ultimately, the situation will be resolved when it is resolved. Until then, though, it seems that nothing will change before the Week 1 matchup, even if Reddick is in the area for charity work.
