“I love football, I always have. I don’t miss playing; I like waking up feeling pretty good. But, I had a great coach in high school who taught me the way and molded me to lead me into college and the NFL. I always said when I was playing that if I ever coached, it would be at the high school level. I think it is the perfect fit because you can shape guys’ lives as they go through,” said Mangold.

It is good to see Mangold staying around the football field in his post-playing career. He was a cerebral player on the field and always put the Jets’ offense in a position to succeed. Off the field, he was a leader who represented the organization well.
Unsurprisingly, those traits translate very well to a coaching position. Mangold can import his knowledge as an offensive lineman to the next generation, helping them develop their technique and talent as players. Off the field, Mangold can help them become team leaders and good school representatives.
Delbarton has a good one in Coach Mangold. If he is successful at high school, Mangold could work up the ranks in the future if he desires to do so.
