Jermaine Johnson is feeling confident about the New York Jets’ defensive line – with or without Haason Reddick.
The former first-round pick spoke to the media on Friday about his expectations for his unit. When asked about how the unit will perform with Reddick absent and following the losses of Bryce Huff and John Franklin-Myers, Johnson said, “I mean, you can ask the teams we joint practiced against, and then y’all will see on Monday. So I think we all feel pretty good.”

Johnson added that he is “very excited” to see the defensive line in action against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night.
“My switch has been waiting to be flipped, and the joint practices are fun, but at the same time, I mean, game day in the NFL is like the Roman Coliseum. It’s like bringing you back to millennia ago. And you know, I just can’t wait to get back to that. I know all of us can’t.”
On Reddick, Johnson expressed excitement for his eventual arrival while reiterating that he believes the unit will still be productive without him.
“That’s something he’s handling. We all love him. We’re all waiting for him when he’s ready to get here. But we have full confidence that we’re about to go do some damage, for sure.”
It will be fascinating to see how the Jets’ defensive line plays against the 49ers on Monday night.
It seems that Johnson is confident in the unit’s abilities going into Monday. If he is correct, the Jets and their fans will likely be very happy after the first game of the season.
