After blasting New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers for missing minicamp earlier this year, former New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman has quickly changed his stance on his old rivals.
While appearing on “NFL on Fox,” Edelman praised the Jets.
“I have to give a shoutout and give my flowers to the New York Jets. I was in the building last week, Thursday night, sitting next to a bunch of Jersey folk, and it was the first time I ever – I ever – saw hope in the crowd’s eyes, and they had a reason to have it because Aaron Rodgers was like Aaron Rodgers of the past.”

Edelman proceeded to explain why he believes the Jets are poised for success, stating, “I am not a Jets fan, but there [is] looking to be some promise there. It’s hard for me to say it. It has been a long time for them.”
The former seventh-round pick also praised Rodgers for continuously bouncing back after a few rough hits.
“The thing that got me the most was he took a couple hits,” Edelman said. “And for the guys in that locker room to see how he performed after he took those hits, it gives so much confidence to the whole team.”
However, the former receiver had a completely different stance on Rodgers and the Jets just a few months ago when the signal-caller was absent for the team’s mandatory minicamp. In June, Edelman aired his negative thoughts while appearing on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
“I think it’s a bad look for your leader. For whatever reason, to go and miss [a mandatory minicamp],” Edelman said.
It is refreshing to hear Edelman praise the Jets, especially since he played for their division rival, the New England Patriots, throughout his entire 11-season NFL career. His lack of bias towards the Jets is notable, and as a three-time Super Bowl champion, he understands what it takes to build a winning culture.
