During his latest media availability, Sauce Gardner had the ultimate praise for one of his prominent contemporaries.
The New York Jets’ star cornerback spoke about the Denver Broncos’ Patrick Surtian II on Thursday and how he plays at the highest level of competition.

“He a dog. He’s been doing this for a little minute. Every week, it’s a highlight. Even when the ball is not getting thrown his way, he is a lockdown cornerback for sure. He just got paid and is well deserving; he deserved that for sure. And yeah, he is like that, for sure.”
After bringing up Surtain’s extension, Gardner talked about the prospect of his own extension with the Jets.
“I’ve been trying not to think about that stuff. You know, as much as I’d think about it sometimes, I’ll be like, let me stop thinking about that. At the end of the day, we have something special here, and I can’t always preach taking everything day by day and week by week if I’m thinking about some individual stuff for myself. We have a pretty good group of guys, coaches, trainers, and everybody here. So I can’t take any of that for granted.”
Gardner and Surtain are two of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. They have a penchant for locking down receivers and giving their defenses great chances to win games week in and week out.
As a result, their contracts need to reflect an elite, upper-tier level of play. Surtain is well deserving of his numbers (four years, $96 million with $77.5 million guaranteed), and while Gardner has not yet inked his deal, he will be equally deserving if he continues his high level of play.
