To put it lightly, one of the most prominent former New York Jets in sports media is not thrilled with Robert Saleh.
Appearing on “Get Up,” former Jet Damien Woody expressed his frustration and anger with Saleh after the team’s crushing loss to the Denver Broncos.

“You go out there and commit 13 penalties. 13! Five of them were pre-snap, and ten were offensive penalties. You are on the one-yard line on multiple downs and you didn’t put in your 240-pound rookie running back from the one damn yard line. What the hell is going on, Robert? And yes, I am talking about Robert Saleh, the head football coach of the New York Jets,” said Woody.
"What the hell is going on Robert [Saleh]? … This team looks sloppy. … It's unacceptable. It's a bad freaking loss and I put that strictly on the head coach."

“This team looks sloppy. They look inept. What are we doing here? This is supposed to be a game where clearly the Jets are supposed to win. And your team can’t stay onside? This is clearly on the coaching.”
During his rant, Woody added that Aaron Rodgers was correct about his cadence when responding to Saleh’s comments about possibly changing it in the future.
“The cadence has been a weapon for him. How many times throughout Aaron Rodgers’s career have we seen him use the cadence, draw teams offsides, and then all of a sudden, a big play happens? We have seen that time and time again. And then you are going to come out in the postgame and say, ‘Oh, well, because our guys can’t stay onside, maybe we shouldn’t use it.’
“Figure it out. Aaron Rodgers is absolutely right. Maybe if the guys had some discipline and stayed onside, maybe Aaron Rodgers could use that weapon to his advantage. I’m so sick of the Jets being undisciplined as a team. It’s been that way since Robert Saleh has been there, and it showed up yesterday against a team starting a freaking rookie quarterback. It’s unacceptable, it’s a bad freaking loss, and I put it strictly on the head coach,” said Woody.
Woody is entirely right about everything. The Jets looked woefully unprepared and extremely undisciplined on Sunday. They made countless mistakes in every aspect of the game. Unfortunately, this type of play has been a pattern under Robert Saleh.
New York has to do some self-scouting before a critical matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, which will kickstart a big stretch in their 2024 season. If the issues do not change, Saleh will continue to be targeted as a primary culprit for the Jets floundering.
