One of the New York Jets’ biggest offseason additions may soon be on the move.
According to a report from Jordan Schultz, the Jets are planning to make wide receiver Mike Williams available for trade ahead of the NFL’s Nov. 5 trade deadline.

Williams was signed to a one-year deal this offseason to help open up the Jets’ offense down the field. He was a big-time contested-catch weapon for the Chargers, opening up their offense alongside star wideout Keenan Allen.
The idea was that, alongside Garrett Wilson and with Aaron Rodgers at the helm, Williams could serve the same role for the New York Jets. However, those results have not been seen through six games of the 2024 season. Williams only has 10 receptions for 145 receiving yards with zero touchdowns. He has only played 205 snaps, well behind Wilson’s 369 and Allen Lazard’s 355.
Rodgers has not established a rapport with Williams. This was seen in the conclusion of Monday’s game against the Bills; Rodgers expected Williams to be in one spot, but the receiver ran elsewhere. As a result, the pass was intercepted, and the Jets lost the game.
New York’s wide receiver room is just about set now, with the Davante Adams trade becoming official. Between Adams, Wilson, Allen Lazard, Xavier Gipson, and Malachi Corley waiting in the wings, there is limited space for Williams in the Big Apple.
There is a chance that Williams will regain his footing elsewhere if traded. But for now, the free-agent signing for New York has been a significant disappointment.
