What is this thing we call sports? I mean, truly, what exactly is it?

At times, many who peruse this site, Jets X-Factor, hit the Sunday night pillow with a bitterness that’s tough to explain. Worse yet, for many others, the entire week ahead depends on how a specific team produces on Sunday.

Don’t even think about uttering any sentence that contains “sounds like” and/or “the case of the Mondays” in the presence of a New York Jets fan—especially after the most recent three weeks of NFL play.

Yet, those who experienced the loss at T-Squared Social in New York, NY, at least suffered together.

No matter the result, the underground movement that is the New York Jets watch party experience has a bevy of positive effects on one of the most rabid fanbases in sports today. One man who understands this is Daniel Rovin, the programming and facility manager of the aforementioned T-Squared Social.

“T-Squared is the best viewing experience at any bar or venue in New York City,” Rovin told Jet X. “We have the largest high-definition television in the city, at 218 inches, and we’re passionate fans just like our guests.”

If passion is what T-Squared Social offers, then it’s no wonder this fanbase continues flocking there.

Spearheaded by Jake Asman, who hosts the popular “Jake Asman Show” on YouTube (and other various platforms), Jets fan watch parties are gaining momentum with each passing week. Although the on-the-field results have been frustrating through six games in 2024, sometimes “misery-loving company” is the only way to make it to the other side.

Fortunately, the next watch party is here, as Asman and T-Squared Social are hosting Jets fans for the team’s Week 7 road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Located at 7 E 42nd St, New York, NY, T-Squared Social is the City’s newest dining and entertainment experience, which merges elevated cuisine and hand-crafted cocktails with social activities and the best seat to watch any game.

“The party starts an hour before kickoff, and since there will be (New York) Mets Game 6,” Rovin, the self-proclaimed Mets diehard confidently claimed, “a portion of the 10,000 square-foot venue will be dedicated to both the Mets and Jets’ actual game sound, allowing fans to feel immersed in the experience.”

In other words, whatever a fan’s specific fandom combination may be, T-Squared Social’s efforts line up with providing as unique of an experience as possible.

“We have the best AV system in NY,” Rovin added. “This allows us to do cool things with the audio, in order to provide an in-stadium experience for any type of fan, especially the Jets-Mets fan on this monster weekend.”

Hey, one thing is for sure: Rovin has his work cut out for him.

Jets fans are currently as disgruntled as they are passionate. Exactly zero percent of their hunger has been satisfied, whereas other fanbases like the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles have experienced utter ecstasy—after having once been considered in the “miserable” class of fandom.

It’s why that nagging three-letter phrase refuses to go away—”Same Old Jets”—and only a little kid starring in an Adam Sandler movie can sum it up so concisely.

But hey, that’s sports. That’s what assuming the fandom role means. It’s exactly what should be expected—anything and everything, because, after all, you don’t play for the team.

The good stuff of sports fandom deals with the experience. It forces time to stand still for a moment, which, in turn, provides forever memories with friends and family.

The same kid who frustratingly remembers exactly where he was when Doug Brien failed in Pittsburgh is the same grown man who fondly recalls the celebratory mayhem the very moment Nick Folk’s kick split the uprights in Indianapolis. He remembers that split second, the sound that came with the thrill, and, most importantly, the people who surrounded him that very night.

The New York Jets might lose to the Steelers. Then again, they might actually win by pulling out a close fourth-quarter game.

What folks like Daniel Rovin, Jake Asman, and those who run Jets X-Factor understand, is that sports fandom boils down to the experience and the memories that are made. T-Squared Social provides the perfect place to make that happen.
