After a crushing defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers, players from the New York Jets addressed the media.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers spoke about the Jets’ four-game losing streak and why they have been struggling.

“It’s been a rough stretch since we played so good on Thursday night. We’ve lost each of those four differently, but we got to figure it out. Obviously, we added two big-time players to the locker room. One is here, and one is coming Monday. So, everything is still right in front of us.
“We have to somehow keep the belief in the locker room and start our run. You can’t win 10 in a row unless you win the first one. We have to be very critical of ourselves, each of us individually, tomorrow, and then come in with the right attitude all week and go to New England and get a win.”
Rodgers also responded to a question about how the Jets can maintain their belief in the midst of their struggles, getting a little testy with reporters in the process.
“Stop listening to you guys, number one. Number two, you have to be accountable. I got to play better. That’s the key. I got to play better. We need to find a way to run the ball better so we can actually pass. I thought I did some nice things in the passing game. Breece had a couple of really nice ones. But we got to run the ball better, and I got to play better.”
Additionally, Rodgers spoke about the team’s energy on Sunday night and how he wants it to change. He mentioned earlier in the press conference that his first-half interception “changed the entire energy and changed the game.”
“Shouldn’t be that difficult. I mean, I felt like the energy — and starts with me, the energy for whatever reason at halftime was a little flat. I felt like it was flat before the game, too. I mean, Sunday Night Football, so I got to look at myself and how to bring better energy. We all got to do better.”
During his media availability, wideout Garrett Wison spoke about the drop that led to the interception and took full accountability for it.
“That was the reason we lost the game. At the end of the day, that s— can’t happen. It’s a terrible play. It’s like a culmination of me getting bad habits, not attacking the ball in the game. I have to fix it, you know, I have good hands. I have to go use my hands to catch the ball.”
Wilson also spoke about how the Jets can prevent their season from slipping away.
“You have to go and have a good week of practice and win the next one. That’s all you can do. This season ain’t over. We still got a lot of everything out in front of us and feel like we got everything we need here. It’s time to go play on Sundays, on game day, whatever it may be. And it’s time to win games.”
Davante Adams said that the Jets “did not execute” enough to win against the Steelers. He also spoke about how those issues have plagued the team this season.
“That’s been the underlying thing with this team this year, and you know, I’m obviously just getting here, but I’m hoping that I can do something to be able to change that.”
It is clear that the Jets are searching for answers. Nothing they have done for the past four weeks has resulted in a win. If the offense is clicking, the defense struggles. If the defense finds ways to get stops, the offense falters. Add in the energy issues and mentality issues, and you have a recipe for disaster.
The Jets need to get back into the win column. Even against an inferior opponent in the Patriots, the Jets must fix their many issues on and off the field. Otherwise, it is hard to see things turning around.
