“I don’t know.”
That was Aaron Rodgers’ response to a question about the New York Jets’ continued issues after a 31-6 drubbing by the Arizona Cardinals. He spoke about the team’s energy level and why the same issues keep occurring.
“I’m not sure. I don’t have a good answer for you, I’m sorry. Offensively, I feel like we had a good week of practice. We liked the plan. They played really well on defense, and we didn’t score seven in the red zone. In situational, we were really bad.”

The quarterback also spoke about feeling “a lot of emotions” this season through its ups and downs.
“It seems like there’s a lot. That’s a loaded answer, but it’s not the time or place to get into any of that right now. At some point, I’ll give you a better answer,” said Rodgers.
Wideout Davante Adams echoed Rodgers’ sentiments when asked about his emotions during the game.
“It’s frustrating, obviously. It’s not our standard of football. It’s not my standard of football. It’s frustrating. I don’t really know what to say. It was just a weird, weird day. We came out and did some good stuff, but we didn’t do enough to compete with those boys today.”
Garrett Wilson also spoke about the game, saying that he agreed that the team was lacking energy.
“I feel like when you go out and play like that, it will be tough to find that energy. So, maybe that was the case. I don’t think we went into this with the wrong mentality. I don’t think we went about our meetings or our practice this week in the wrong way. I think that, at the end of the day, it’s all about Sundays,” said Wilson.
“I say that all the time. But when you go out and play badly, you have to, I don’t know, maybe fake it a little bit to make it seem real. But the energy is not there because we’re playing like trash.”
Cornerback Sauce Gardner said that he “has to be better” and added, “Maybe I could have brought some more energy to make everybody play better.” Defensive back Isaiah Oliver called the effort “embarrassing.” Linebacker Quincy Williams also put his thoughts into perspective.
“My mindset is focus on the day-to-day, week-to-week. Not, ‘Oh, we’ve got a lot of season left.’ I ain’t trying to hear none of that. I’m worried about the right now.”
The Jets feel like a team searching for answers and searching for leaders to step up. New York is a rudderless ship that, if it has not sunk already, is on the verge of sinking.
It will be fascinating to see how the team responds to another crushing loss next week. If the results are similar to those against Arizona, things may only get worse.
