Late into the season, the New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars will face off for the rights to a higher draft selection. For different reasons, both teams have been extremely bad this season. They have each dealt with injuries and overall disappointment after having high expectations heading into the season.

What will this game look like? And will the Jets come out on top?

Follow along as we preview the latest edition of the “Tank Bowl” between the Jets and the Jaguars.

Jets vs. Jaguars Game Info

  • New York Jets (3-10)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars (3-10)
  • 2024 NFL Week 15
  • Sunday, December 15th, 1:00 p.m. ET
  • FOX
  • EverBank Stadium, Jacksonville, Florida

Unlike the potential it had at the beginning of the season, Sunday’s game between the Jaguars and the Jets looks to be one of the worst games of the NFL season.

The lowly AFC teams will face off at 1 p.m. ET in Jacksonville, Florida. EverBank Stadium will be the host site for the game, and FOX will broadcast the game on Sunday. Chris Myers, Mark Schlereth, and Jen Hale will be on the call.

With Jacksonville rocking their classic, 2000s-era uniforms, the Jets will have a mixed-matched combination. New York will be wearing their green helmets, white jerseys, and green pants on Sunday.

Jets vs. Jaguars Game History

We have yet another all-time series that the Jets are behind in.

In their 17 historical matchups, the Jaguars hold a 9-8 lead over the Jets. New York is 2-3 in its last five matchups, with the previous game being a 19-3 loss for the Jets back in 2022.

The last time the Jets beat the Jaguars was in 2021, when they won by a score of 26-21 in a late December matchup in New York.

Jets vs. Jaguars Betting Odds (FanDuel Sportsbook)

After a week off from being favorites, the Jets are right back to where they have been all season long.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Jets are 3.5-point favorites against the Jaguars. They have a -178 moneyline, compared to Jacksonville’s +150 moneyline. The O/U for the game is set at a meager 40.5 line.

The lines make sense for this game between two bad football teams. New York has been slightly more respectable than Jacksonville this season, earning it the distinction of being favored. However, the extremely low point total makes sense given the combined struggles of these two offenses

It will be interesting to see how the game plays out on Sunday. However, this may be Vegas’s best chance to capitalize on the Jets being favorites this season.

Jets vs. Jaguars Injury Report

New York Jets

  • CB D.J. Reed, Groin – Out
  • CB Brandin Echols, Shoulder – Out
  • RB Kene Nwangwu, Hand – Out
  • OL Xavier Newman-Johnson, Groin – Out
  • RB Breece Hall, Knee – Questionable
  • TE Tyler Conklin, Personal – Questionable
  • OL Morgan Moses, Wrist – Questionable
  • OL Alijah Vera-Tucker, Ankle – Questionable

Another week, another lengthy injury report for the New York Jets.

The Jets will be without both cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Brandin Echols on Sunday, which is a massive blow to their secondary. Rookie Qwan’tez Stiggers will likely draw the start, with a huge chance to improve his prospects for a big 2025 role.

On offense, Breece Hall is questionable but is expected to play, which will make the running back split very interesting after Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis played well last week. Tyler Conklin could be a surprise inactive due to the birth of his first child, which could mean that Jeremy Ruckert would draw the start.

Additionally, the offensive line is dealing with injuries to Alijah Vera-Tucker and Morgan Moses, while backup Xavier Newman-Johnson is also out.

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • TE Evan Engram, Shoulder-Out

On the other hand, the Jaguars are very healthy heading into their game against the Jets.

The only significant injury the team is dealing with is a shoulder injury to starting tight end Evan Engram, who has been ruled out for the season. Without him, Jacksonville will have to rely on their backups at the position.

Jets vs. Jaguars Game Prediction

  • Jets defeat the Jaguars, 23-20

If the Jets want to win another game this season, this is the time to do it. There is no reason the Jets should not win this game. They are the more talented team and, shockingly, the better-coached team.

New York needs to get the job done this week, and I expect them to do so. Give me the Jets by a score of 23-20.
