Many people in the world of the New York Jets are excited about the hiring of Aaron Glenn, including plenty of the team’s best players.

Defensive end Jermaine Johnson posted multiple excited reactions to the news of Glenn’s hiring. One was filled with emojis, while another was with X-Men villain Juggernaut running through a wall.

Cornerback Michael Carter II posted a simple lock emoji, while D.J. Reed said that hiring Glenn is a “great look.” Running back Braelon Allen also posted “Let’s go” with some fire emojis.

The sentiment extended beyond just current players.

Former lineman Damien Woody said, “Can’t tell you how many former Jets players are pumped for AG getting this gig,” while former special teams ace Justin Hardee, who played under Glenn in New Orleans, gave some praise for Glenn in his own post.

“Great pick by the Jets! My favorite coach I’ve had the pleasure to work with. My coach my first 4 years in the NFL & a way better person than coach. He will easily get the best out of his players, and I couldn’t be happier for him! He relates to the players better than most coaches.”

Additionally, Hall-of-Fame coach Bill Parcells, who coached Glenn during his time with the Jets and Cowboys, expressed excitement for his former player getting the gig in New York.

“I know he’s done an awful lot of diligent work to prepare himself to be a pro coach. He worked hard over the years. He started in scouting, which is a very good place to start, and learned about personnel acquisition, prototypes and things like that. He knows all that.”

Parcells also added his thoughts on Glenn’s ability to handle the New York market.

“I think Aaron is going to be himself. He’s very straight forward. He’s a very candid guy. I don’t think that will be a problem, I really don’t. I think he’ll just be Aaron Glenn, and I think that will be fine. He’s a very honest, principled guy. I have a high regard for him, I really do.”

It is rare for a hire to receive almost universal praise from former and current players, but Glenn brings that to the table.

The new leader of the Jets is a very well-respected coach and former player who has succeeded in every role he has taken. He has shown that he can turn around struggling units and get the most out of his team, even in the face of adversity.

In New York, Glenn will have plenty of adversity to deal with for a franchise in the midst of a historic playoff drought. But if he has shown anything throughout his on-field and off-field careers, the new head coach should be more than ready for the challenge.
