NY Jets’ Sauce Gardner locks up ‘Fore Play Golf’ on the course

There’s nothing like a friendly challenge to remind the world’s Joes where they actually rank in this life. Apparently, the “Fore Play Golf” fellas were the latest to be knocked down a peg (or 10).

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner was recently shown enjoying an outing with the Barstool Sports’ golf show/podcast, during which a one-on-one coverage battle ensued.

“I really thought I had him,” Frankie Borrelli wrote while posting the epic one-on-one battle that resulted in something mirroring a legal mugging coupled with the involvement of 100 blankets.

“The nerve of this guy,” is how professional athletes would silently think.

Obviously, Frankie is joking around here, knowing full well he had no chance against the two-time First-Team All-Pro cornerback. Kudos to Sauce for actually humoring the idea since it was a no-win, only-lose scenario for the professional athlete.

Gardner, 24, is coming off by far his worst season in the NFL. In 15 games, the Cincinnati product finished with 1 interception, 9 passes defended, and 49 total tackles (36 solo tackles).

Unlike his first two NFL seasons, Jets fans came away disappointed with Gardner’s play this past season. Some have even pointed to his off-the-field activities as potential reasons for his dip in production.

Sauce is an avid video game player who also caught the golf bug last offseason, often receiving tips from more seasoned golfers. My assumption is that this new clip is from a recent Gardner appearance on the show, but I’m not totally sure—since a full Gardner-featured video has not yet surfaced on Fore Play Golf’s YouTube channel.

In any event, Jets fans should expect a bounce-back campaign from Sauce Gardner in 2025. His coverage attributes are still elite, and Aaron Glenn‘s background could do wonders for the Jets’ young cornerback.

Either way, there’s nothing like an average Joe testing himself against a professional athlete. Actually, even worse, Frankie Borrelli tested himself against a professional athlete with some of the freakiest abilities (at his size and length) I’ve ever seen in my life.

Hopefully, he can at least somewhat recover a semblance of the initial confidence Sauce smacked out of him on the golf course. Then again, what remains of what I used to call my hamstring cleanly snapped while merely watching the video, so I have little (if anything) to add.
