If Sauce Gardner were in charge of the script, quarterback Aaron Rodgers would lead the NFL in every passing category in 2025.
On Sunday morning, the New York Jets cornerback predicted big things for his former quarterback buddy if he ultimately lands with the Minnesota Vikings.
“If Aaron (Rodgers) goes to the Vikings, he might be No. 1 in all quarterback stats,” Gardner wrote on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Rodgers, 41, has been rumored to land with a few teams since getting the heave-ho from the Jets in early February.
Initially, speculation involved teams like the Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans. That’s done with Geno Smith seemingly reuniting with Pete Carroll in Vegas.
The Los Angeles Rams then became a frontrunner in the Rodgers business. That idea rapidly disappeared once Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford agreed that their partnership was worth continuing.
The rage has recently featured the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings. Thanks to Stafford staying put, Brian Daboll is in the market for a quarterback, and Kevin O’Connell’s rumored interest is the latest rumor making the rounds.
NFL insider Jordan Schultz is the latest to contribute to the potential Rodgers-Vikings partnership, as he also reported the possibility on Sunday morning.
Gardner is thinking the same thing most of us are—let’s be honest. What O’Connell did for Sam Darnold in 2024 is nothing short of remarkable. The quarterback guru took a struggling quarterback who couldn’t find himself over the course of three NFL stops and made him an MVP contender.
It’s also safe to say that Gardner is imagining Rodgers throwing to Justin Jefferson, the best receiver in the league.
We’ll just have to wait to find out whether or not that comes to fruition. However, If it does, Sauce Gardner does not have the script.
Whoever was in charge in 2009—when Brett Favre went from Green Bay to New York to Minnesota—is the same individual in charge today.
