If things go according to plan, the New York Jets could have their pick of the litter along the offensive line when the 2025 NFL Draft rolls around.
New York will have the opportunity – based on most mock drafts – to either take the top tight end in the incoming class, or either of the top tackle prospects from the group as well.
If the likes of Will Campbell or Armand Membou don’t excite the Jets enough, there are other options later on in the draft that can service them.
And one of them is in the building today.
Jets Visit With Top Tackle Prospect
When it comes to the top tackle prospects in the Draft, Minnesota’s Aireontae Ersery isn’t at the top of everyone’s mind. The three-year starter has plenty of collegiate experience in one of the toughest conferences to play.
Now, he has a top-30 visit with the Jets.
Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reported that New York was Ersery’s ninth visit across the league to this point.
At 6’6″ and 330 pounds, Ersery has the perfect build for an NFL tackle and showed off his athleticism at the Scouting Combine in early March. The Kansas City native has a strong base and was very strong in a run-blocking Minnesota scheme this past year. NFL.com grades him to be a plus-starter in a couple of seasons.
The issue with Ersery is the fact that he plays too rigid at times and is considered a raw prospect who would need time on the practice field before any team feels comfortable throwing him out on the starting lineup.
Ersery is still considered a Day-2 pick and a player that the Jets could look for if they aren’t sold on the Campbell/Membou combination along the offensive line.
Additional Top-30 Visits Announced
Ersery was not the only player the Jets have reportedly brought in for a visit today. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated announced earlier that Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers was also in for a visit.
New York has needs at both quarterback and right tackle so it’s not out of the realm of possibility either player could be the selection in the second and third rounds of April’s Draft.
At the very least, Ersery has the kind of upside a team can get behind at the tackle position.
