Newly-signed New York Jets safety Andre Cisco appears ready to welcome quarterback Shedeur Sanders to the NFL with a little trash talk—or at least a warning of sorts.

Reacting to a highlight video from Colorado’s pro day, Cisco fired off a pointed X post aimed directly at the Buffaloes quarterback.

“Boy better stop patting that ball, we breakin onnat earlyyyy,” wrote Cisco.

For context, “patting the ball” refers to a quarterback tapping the football just before throwing, a habit that can tip off defensive backs when to break on a pass. It’s a subtle tell, but Cisco is clearly an NFL veteran who’s already studying Sanders’ tendencies.

The Jets inked Cisco to a one-year, $10 million deal in free agency, bringing in one of the league’s most disciplined and productive young safeties. The 25-year-old was a third-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2021 NFL draft out of Syracuse.

Over four seasons in Jacksonville, he played in 63 games (47 starts), notching 229 tackles, 24 pass breakups, eight interceptions, and three forced fumbles. He’s also drawn just four defensive penalties in the past three years.

Sanders is widely projected to be a top-five pick in the 2025 NFL draft, ranked No. 4 overall on Mock Draft Database’s consensus big board.

The Colorado product finished eighth in voting for the 2024 Heisman Trophy while completing 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards and a groundbreaking 37 touchdowns with 10 interceptions.

While it remains unclear which team will select Sanders, one thing is clear: New York Jets safety Andre Cisco already has Shedeur Sanders on his radar.
