Allen Lazard is staying put.
According to Over The Cap, the veteran wide receiver took an $8.5 million pay cut to remain with the New York Jets.
Previously set for a cap number of $13.2 million in 2025, Lazard’s cap number for the season is now $4.6 million. He has a $2.25 million base salary, of which $1.75 million is guaranteed.
After his contract voids, Lazard’s dead money in 2026 will be $4.368 million.
Additionally, the Jets can invite Lazard to participate in any offseason program without being concerned that an injury will guarantee a full $11 million salary, which previously would have been the case.
The 29-year-old has been a disappointment since signing a four-year, $44 million deal with the Jets in 2023. Following his longtime Packers teammate, Aaron Rodgers, Lazard was expected to be a reliable possession receiver for the Jets, but that never quite came to fruition.
Lazard had an abysmal 2023 season, catching 23-of-49 targets (46.9%) for 311 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. He had five drops, five penalties, and caught just 4-of-17 contested targets (23.5%). Lazard was benched at one point during the season.
In 2024, Lazard bounced back to an extent. In 12 games, he secured 37-of-60 targets (61.7%) for 530 yards and six touchdowns. His contested catch rate improved to 57.1% (8 of 14). However, some of his usual woes persisted; he had career-highs of eight drops and six penalties.
With Lazard set to return, the Jets’ wide receiver depth chart appears as follows:
- Garrett Wilson
- Josh Reynolds
- Allen Lazard
- Tyler Johnson
- Malachi Corley
- Xavier Gipson
- Irvin Charles
- Easop Winston
- Marcus Riley
- Brandon Smith
- Ontaria Wilson
