Reporting from the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center, Florham Park, NJ—Armand Membou was the draft prospect that most draft pundits and analysts expected the New York Jets to select in the 2025 NFL draft. So, it’s unsurprising that Aaron Glenn drafted the big Missouri mauler.
Depending on one’s expectations, how Membou responded to the selection could be a surprise.
After a three-year run with the Tigers, during which he became one of the best right tackles in the country, Membou is now a member of the Jets and is thrilled about the opportunity. Better yet, his confident attitude immediately showed face.
Armand Membou displays immediate confidence
Speaking to reporters just minutes after being the seventh overall pick by the Jets, Membou made it clear from the beginning that New York “always felt like home” during the pre-draft process.
Membou is the second straight tackle the Jets have taken in the first round in the last couple of years. He is also the fourth offensive lineman the team has taken in the first two rounds in the previous five years.
It’s those pieces already in place (like Olu Fashanu and Alijah Vera-Tucker) that Membou drew him to the Jets from the beginning.
“The Jets have a good foundation to it and the work I’m going to put in … we’re going to be very good in the trenches,” Membou stated.
The 21-year-old’s confidence was apparent from the very first answer in Florham Park. He was quick to correct a reporter who questioned if he gave up a single sack last season to make it clear he did not give one up during his final season at Missouri.
If there’s a reason why New York made Membou the pick with the seventh overall selection, though, it was his work as a run blocker. That’s something the Lee’s Summit native made abundantly clear as well.
“They (the Jets) are getting a mauler in the run game and someone very consistent in the passing game,” Membou said. “Whatever they need me to do, doesn’t matter – just run behind me.”
New York wanted to put the finishing touches on their offensive line early in the draft. They did precisely that with the seventh overall pick.
