NY Jets sign 5 of 7 draft picks from 2025 class

The New York Jets didn't take long to sign most of their draft class from a couple of weeks ago, even with a little more work to do.

On the eve of the start of rookie camp, the New York Jets have done their part to ensure all i’s are dotted and t’s are crossed.

New York announced Thursday evening that it has agreed to terms with five of the organization’s seven draft picks from the 2025 draft class. While the Jets have not formally filled out a list of all their undrafted free agents at this time, all rookies are expected to be at minicamp on Friday morning.

And the quicker they can agree with their draft picks, the less they become something of a distraction closer to training camp.

Jets Sign 2025 Draft Class

The first, and arguably most important, signed rookie to agree to terms on his first deal with the Jets was seventh overall pick Armand Membou. The Missouri product is expected to start immediately at right tackle.

As the first pick of the Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey regime, Membou’s importance to the team goes far beyond just what he can bring to the table as a rookie offensive lineman.

“I’m a firm believer that you start it inside out,” Glenn said on draft weekend. “So, if we can build our line, just as much as our defensive line, also, that only helps you as a team. It helps your quarterback, it helps your running backs, it helps your passing game, and it just creates an identity within your team that you’re trying to make sure that every team, when they watch film, they see that.”

As part of his deal, Membou will be given the standard rookie rate of a four-year contract worth close to $32 million as part of the collective bargaining agreement for rookie contracts.

He wasn’t the only rookie to agree to a deal with the team Thursday, either.

Third-round cornerback Azareye’h Thomas, fourth-round safety Malachi Moore, fifth-round defensive lineman Tyler Baron, and fifth-round linebacker Francisco Mauigoa have signed their four-year rookie deals as well on Thursday.

All are expected to be at rookie minicamp.

The only two players yet to be signed from the 2025 draft class are tight end Mason Taylor and wide receiver Arian Smith. There are many reasons why either player hasn’t agreed to a new deal yet, but there is still plenty of time to get one done.

No need to panic here. They should be there at rookie camp as well over the next few days.
