Newly signed Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams appeared to fire a subtle shot at the New York Jets’ culture.
Speaking to reporters at the Rams’ mandatory minicamp, Davante Adams hinted how he felt about the Jets during his brief stint with the team.
“Everybody’s [the Rams locker room] in a good mood. It’s not like a dark cloud over the building. And I’ve experienced that quite a bit over the last few years. So, it’s a glaring difference when you come into a building like this,” said Adams.
Off to a 2-4 start in 2024, gambled on trading for Adams mid-season, hoping the All-Pro receiver could jolt their struggling offense. Instead, the move proved costly. New York sent a 2025 third-round pick to Las Vegas for Adams, but the veteran wideout couldn’t rescue the season.
While Adams delivered respectable production – 67 receptions, 854 yards, and seven touchdowns over 11 games – the Jets stumbled to a 3-8 record during his stint in green and white.
Just weeks after news broke that New York was parting ways with Aaron Rodgers, Adams was released as well. He landed in L.A. on a two-year, $44 million contract.
Adams was set to count $38.34 million against the Jets’ 2025 salary cap before his release. By cutting ties, New York cleared $29.98 million in space while absorbing $8.36 million in dead money.
Adams may not have named the Jets, but his message landed directly in Florham Park.
