The New York Jets are not shopping running back Breece Hall ahead of the 2025 season, but the door isn’t completely shut. At least that’s what a well-respected Jets beat writer believes.
Per ESPN’s Rich Cimini, if the season begins to unravel in New York, Hall will be a prime trade candidate, and that potential will certainly be alive.
“The Jets want to be a run-oriented offense, so it wouldn’t have made sense to trade their most accomplished back. It could be a different story around the mid-season trading deadline,” wrote Cimini.
“If they fall out of contention, Hall will be a prime candidate to be dealt. We already know how much Glenn likes [Braelon] Allen and [Isaiah] Davis.”
Breece Hall’s production dipped in his third NFL season after emerging as one of the league’s top all-purpose yard threats in 2023.
Despite improvements along the offensive line, the former Iowa State standout struggled to match his previous efficiency.
Hall finished the 2024 season with 876 rushing yards, down from 994 the year prior, on just 16 fewer carries. His 4.2 yards per attempt marked a career low, and ball security became an issue as he recorded six fumbles, doubling his total from his first two years combined.
New York used two draft picks on running backs Isaiah Davis and Braelon Allen in 2024, and head coach Aaron Glenn has already hinted at a committee-style approach, leaving Hall with something to prove entering the final year of his rookie contract.
If Hall can’t regain his 2023 form, which included over 1,500 all-purpose yards, he may find himself fighting for opportunities elsewhere by season’s end.
