Where does New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson rank among the NFL’s top receivers?

That is a very polarizing question among Jets and NFL fans, but if you ask two-time first-team All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II, Wilson’s name doesn’t come up enough among the best receivers.

Speaking on the “Glory Daze Podcast” with host Johnny Manziel, Surtain said, “I am not saying he [Wilson] is underrated, but I feel like his name could be talked about more. I think he is a polished receiver for sure. He could play any position, crazy athletic, could catch anything, and very elusive.”

Surtain clearly believes more eyes should be on No. 5 in green and white. However, the last time the two met, a brutal 10-9 Broncos win in Week 4 of this past season, Surtain and the Denver defense kept Wilson in check, limiting him to just five catches for 41 yards.

Still only 24 years old, Wilson has emerged as one of the league’s steadiest producers, topping 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first three NFL campaigns despite enduring a revolving door of eight quarterbacks.

Drafted in the first round in 2022, Wilson ranks seventh in receptions (270) and 10th in receiving yards (3,249) since entering the league. His consistent output led to a four-year, $130 million extension this offseason, with $90 million guaranteed.

Now poised to reunite with former Ohio State teammate Justin Fields, Wilson is eyeing a historic fourth straight 1,000-yard season, a feat no receiver in franchise history has achieved.

Recently, Wilson ranked No. 10 in ESPN’s annual wide receiver rankings generated from a survey of over 70 league coaches, executives, and scouts.

Quietly consistent, Wilson is letting his play do the talking, and his peers have taken notice.
