A potential Jamal Adams-New York Jets reunion is officially dead.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Las Vegas Raiders have signed the former Jets safety, reuniting Adams with his former head coach in Seattle, Pete Carroll.

Schultz also added that he has heard Adams, who has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, is in “excellent” shape and is the “healthiest he has been in years.”

Drafted No. 6 overall by the Jets in 2017, the hard-hitting LSU safety quickly made his presence felt.

By the end of his third season, he had already secured two Pro Bowl nods and a first-team All-Pro selection, staking his claim among the NFLโ€™s premier defensive backs.

But the relationship between Adams and the Jets soured rapidly. As the team stumbled through rebuild after rebuild, Adams grew increasingly frustrated with the front office.

By 2020, a contract standoff and a string of pointed public comments fractured any remaining trust. The Jets ultimately dealt him to Seattle in a blockbuster deal that returned two first-round picks, selections that would later become wideout Garrett Wilson and guard Alijah Vera-Tucker.

In Seattle, Adams inked a four-year, $70 million extension, briefly making him the highest-paid safety in the league. His time with the Seahawks, however, was marred by injuries. He never quite recaptured the dominance that defined his early career and was released in March.

A brief stint with the Titans followed, and Adams closed out the 2024 season with the Detroit Lions.

Once the face of the Jets’ defense, Adams will now attempt to rewrite his story out west, closing the door on any chance of a New York reunion for good.
