Jets vs. Packers: How to watch

The time has finally come for the New York Jetsโ€™ schedule to commence. The organization visits Lambeau Field on Saturday night for the first preseason game of the Aaron Glenn era.

As with any preseason contest, thereโ€™s plenty to watch for an upstart team like the Jets. A new coaching staff, system, and roster are all coming together for their first bout of live game contact for the 2025 campaign.

Before the Jets take the field against the Green Bay Packers, though, letโ€™s break down everything fans need to know about the matchup.

  • When: Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, at 8:00 pm EDT.
  • Where: Lambeau Field
  • How to Watch: NFL Network, NFL+, CBS NY

Players to Watch

Arian Smith

While we arenโ€™t quite sure who will actually play next week, itโ€™s a safe bet to assume New Yorkโ€™s fourth-round receiver will be made available. Arian Smith has been a welcome surprise to the Jetsโ€™ offense in practice, and his speed has some analysts wondering if he could be given a role early in the regular season.

For that to happen, though, Smith will need to be a standout on Saturday, as well as throughout each preseason contest.

Qwanโ€™tez Stiggers

When the Jets drafted AZ Thomas in the third round, there was concern that Qwanโ€™tez Stiggers may not get a fair chance to find a spot on the 53-man roster. Through training camp, though, Stiggers has been a dependable player on both special teams and on defense.

A strong showing in Saturdayโ€™s game would be huge for the CFL standout.

Leonard Taylor III

Taylor was a UDFA pickup last season and looked good in small spurts throughout 2024. With Quinnen Williams dealing with an injury, though, the Jets need to figure out what they actually have in the Miami prospect. Saturday will be a good test for Taylor.

Key questions

How long will the starters play?

This is the age-old question for every preseason contest for all 32 teams. As things currently stand, Glenn is intent on playing his starters.

While Glenn revealed his starters will play, he left it at that. The Jets head coachโ€™s words following Thursdayโ€™s training camp practice did not detail how long his starters will participate.

How disciplined does the team look in the first game action?

For the last few years, New York has been the most penalized team in the NFL. That has come from past coachesโ€™ lack of discipline and accountability.

With Glenn now at the helm, Saturday will be the first time fans can see if a change in coaching will alter the number of penalties called on them.

Itโ€™s a first test for Glennโ€™s coaching staples.
