With the NFL’s 53-man deadline set for Tuesday, August 26, at 4 p.m. ET, the New York Jets enter cutdown day facing several difficult roster calls.

Among the most intriguing position groups is the wide receiver unit. Injuries and uneven play from the front end of the depth chart have left the door open for bubble players to seize roster spots.

Undrafted rookies Jamaal Pritchett and Quentin Skinner have made compelling cases at receiver, flashing throughout training camp and preseason games. At the same time, veteran Brandon Smith has delivered his most consistent summer yet, strengthening his push for the first opening-week roster spot of his five-year career.

On the defensive side, the Jets have some tough choices to make along the defensive line, reshaped in recent days by the additions of Harrison Phillips and Jowon Briggs and the trade that sent Derrick Nnadi back to Kansas City.

Former undrafted free agent Leonard Taylor III could become a surprise cut after playing deep into the preseason finale in a crowded defensive tackle room.

Much will hinge on the health of veteran Byron Cowart, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury. If Cowart opens the season on short-term injured reserve, it could free a roster spot for a bubble defensive lineman like Taylor.

Jets X-Factor will carry you through all the cuts. Here is a list of the cuts New York has made thus far (per the team’s official website), and our list will be updated in real time.
