Despite a close battle in his first game as a head coach, Aaron Glenn was not pleased with the New York Jets’ loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
Speaking after the game, Glenn stressed he is not interested in moral victories and the team should have finished the game.
“Exciting game, but I am not into moral victories,” said Glenn, with Jet X reporters Robby Sabo and Nick Faria on the scene, via SNY on X. “We have to be a more disciplined team. There were some penalties that happened in that game that were true discipline issues, and that is something that will be addressed because you will not be on the field with this team if you cause us to lose games, so we will get that addressed.”
The team committed seven penalties against Pittsburgh for a total of 79 yards, including multiple personal fouls.
After a 0-1 start to the season, the New York Jets’ schedule does not get any easier over the next couple of weeks. They host the division-rival Buffalo Bills next week and travel to Tampa Bay to face off against the Buccaneers in Week 3โtwo division-winning squads from a year ago.
The Jets need to salvage a win against either the Bills or the Buccaneers to keep the season alive heading into Miami against the Dolphins in Week 4 on Monday Night Football.
Aaron Glennโs message was clear at the end of the day: Discipline will decide the Jetsโ season.
After a sloppy opener and with Buffalo and Tampa Bay ahead, New York must quickly clean up mistakes or risk watching the season come to an end before its bye week.
