Keys to Victory
Lean on the run game significantly, just like Week 1
The Jets leaned on their ground-and-pound identity in Week 1, piling up 182 rushing yards against a Pittsburgh Steelers front widely regarded as one of the league’s most talented.
This week, New York’s rushing attack draws a favorable matchup against a Buffalo Bills defensive line that yielded 238 yards on the ground to the Baltimore Ravens.
The challenge grows steeper for Buffalo with standout defensive tackle Ed Oliver sidelined, leaving the Jets with an added edge.
Bounceback game from the secondary
For the Jets to stay competitive against Buffalo, their secondary must rebound. In last week’s loss, New York surrendered 244 yards and four touchdowns through the air, while dropping two interceptions and committing a costly pass interference penalty.
With the exception of All-Pro corner Sauce Gardner, everyone’s performance in the Jets’ secondary was subpar, particularly cornerback Brandon Stephens and safety Tony Adams.
The challenge only stiffens this week against Josh Allen, who carved up Baltimore for 394 yards and two touchdowns on 72% passing.
If the secondary falters again, the Bills could run away with the game very early on.
