Even in defeat, you can count on the New York Jets to draw national attention.

If there is one thing Gang Green can be trusted to do, it’s finding compelling ways to lose games. They showcased this talent once more in their Week 3 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, coming back from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to momentarily take the lead before relinquishing it at the final horn.

New York took its brief lead off a blocked field goal by Will McDonald, who scooped up his own block and returned it 50 yards for the go-ahead score. With the Jets having trailed by three scores just 10 minutes earlier, it was an exhilarating moment, and head coach Aaron Glenn was not exempt from said exhilaration.

The Jets’ first-year head coach raced McDonald down the field as New York’s third-year pass rusher carried the football into the end zone and the Jets to their first second-half lead since Week 1. After McDonald finished his journey to paydirt, Glenn was caught by the FOX cameras busting out some enthusiastic moves.

Glenn’s dance has gone viral, particularly through an edit shared on X by ESPN’s Jenna Laine, who set the clip to Earth, Wind & Fire’s 1978 hit “September.”

The result is magical.

In just over four hours, the clip has been viewed more than one million times. If nothing else, at least the Jets have not lost their knack for virality.

Some have criticized Glenn for celebrating prematurely, but those criticisms ignore the context of the moment. For much of the game, New York looked dead in the water, bleeding out its final moments on the way to a dreaded 0-3 start. But in the blink of an eye, McDonald’s stunning play gave the Jets the lead (pending Nick Folk’s extra point) as seven-point road underdogs. Glenn’s enthusiasm was completely justified.

Unfortunately, the Jets blew their lead afterward, so Glenn’s celebration will go down as little more than a footnote in yet another classic Jets meltdown. Nonetheless, McDonald’s touchdown was a fun moment, and it is silly to claim there was anything wrong with Glenn’s reaction to the play.
