Garrett Wilson has been nothing short of a game-changing player since the New York Jets selected him No. 10 in the 2022 NFL draft.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Jets’ Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos, Wilson’s current and collegiate quarterback, Justin Fields, is not surprised by his success in the league whatsoever.
“He’s a generational player,” said Fields. “I have been with him for a long time, so nothing he does surprises me.”
Signed to a four-year, $130 million extension this offseason, Wilson has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in all three of his seasons with Gang Green despite a carousel at the quarterback position.
This year, reunited with his college signal-caller, Wilson is on pace for a career year.
Through five games of the 2025 season, the Ohio State product has reeled in 33 receptions for 382 yards and four touchdowns. He is currently on pace to finish the year with a career-high in receptions (112), yards (1,299), and touchdowns (14).
His 382 yards rank sixth among wideouts this season, while his elusiveness has also been on full display, forcing nine missed tackles through five games, tied for the most among receivers with Washington Commanders’ Deebo Samuel and Las Vegas Raiders’ Jakobi Myers.
Wilson has become Fields’ only consistent option in a shaky passing attack, routinely bailing out an offense still searching for balance.
The $130 million investment already looks justified, with Garrett Wilson stacking production week after week while giving New York a legitimate star to lean on.
