- New York Jets 11
- Denver Broncos 13
- NFL Week 6, Final
- Hotspur Stadium
- Tottenham, London, UK
The New York Jets’ defense wasn’t pleased with its performance in the first five games of the 2025 season. To fix it, the group held a players-only meeting to take accountability for where the players were falling short.
Whatever was said during that meeting certainly had an impactโeven if it didn’t alter the outcome.
The Jets’ offense did not record a single touchdown while finishing with a mind-boggling -10 passing yards. Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos did just enough to win the Week 6 London game by a 13-11 final.
Things started well for New York’s defense. They forced their first turnover of the season when newcomer Jarvis Brownlee Jr. jarred a reception loose on the opening possession. The two teams responded with three field goals to open up the game.
Nix carved up the defense on the following drive, though. Denver dominated a nine-play, 69-yard drive that ended with a Nix strike to a wide-open Nate Adkins for the first touchdown of the day. Denver took a 10-6 lead going into the second quarter of action.
Denver would not score again until the late moments of the fourth quarter.
While the Broncos struggled with mistakes on their end, frustration began to boil over for the Jets on their offensive side of things.
Starting wide receiver Garrett Wilson was seen verbally arguing with head coach Aaron Glenn at the half after the Jets let the clock run in the final seconds instead of trying to push the ball downfield for a last-second score. The series of events had announcers, analysts, and former players confused regarding the Jets’ decisions on the sideline.
New York came out much more buttoned up in the second half.
A 31-yard return from Isaiah Williams set up the offense with another short field. A combination of strong runs from Breece Hall and Justin Fields drove the Jets down for a 38-yard field goal from Folk. New York forced a three-and-out on the ensuing defensive drive.
On the very next drive, Micheal Clemons forced a holding call in the end zone that resulted in a safety for Gang Green. Through all the turmoil and frustrations, the Jets had an 11-10 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Their defense was the reason why. But as the moments ticked away in the fourth quarter, Nix and the Boncos offense would take the lead courtesy of Will Lutz’s second field goal of the day and a 13-11 score.
With five minutes remaining in the contest, a struggling Jets offense didn’t even pick up a first down on the ensuing drive. New York’s offense was given another chance to get into scoring range after a Jermaine Johnson sack forced another Broncos punt in the second half.
Unfortunately, Fields was sacked for a ninth time on fourth and eight from midfield to push the Jets to 0-6, spoiling a spirited effort from their defense.
New York will be back on the field next week in a home contest against the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET.
Game Notes
- New York welcomed back the kick returner in Kene Nwangwu and the edge rusher in Jermaine Johnson to the roster after both missed the last few weeks with injuries.
- The Jets finished with -10 net passing yards as an offense. Justin Fields went 9 of 17 passing on the day while averaging just 1.4 yards per play.
- Fields was sacked nine times throughout the contest, but a majority of them were the quarterback’s fault, as he held onto the ball too long. TruMedia recorded Fields had an average time to throw of over three seconds, but he struggled to find a decision he liked.
- New York totaled just 82 yards of total offense in the loss.
